Types Of Ignition Coils
The ignition coil is divided into two types according to the magnetic circuit: open magnetic and closed magnetic. The traditional ignition coil is an open magnet type, with an iron core made of approximately 0.3 millimeters of silicon steel sheet, and the iron core is wound with secondary and primary coils. The closed magnetic type uses an iron core similar to III shape to wrap around the primary coil, and then wrap around the secondary coil outside. The magnetic field lines are composed of the iron core to form a closed magnetic circuit. The advantages of a closed field ignition coil are low magnetic leakage, small energy loss, and small size. Therefore, electronic ignition systems generally use closed field ignition coils.
